Ferritin is a ubiquitous iron storage and delivery protein that is fundamental for red blood cell production. Red blood cells need iron for haemoglobin that carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.  Iron is important for healthy muscles, optimal bone marrow, and organ function.
